"The Demi" special edition: Cervical Cancer Awareness

This special edition of “The Demi” bow is hand knit with an ombré teal cotton yarn. This bow can be attached to an alligator style clip, a baby headband or a small hair elastic.  I created this bow to help spread awareness for cervical cancer and raise funds for Cervivor. $4 from every sale in this collection will be donated to Cervivor. 

January is cervical cancer awareness month and I’m a survivor. Worldwide cervical cancer is the fourth most common type of cancer and the fourth most common cause of death from cancer in women. HPV causes over 90% of cervical cancer cases and HPV type 16 & 18 cause over 75%. And just how common is HPV? Well it’s so common that nearly all sexually active men and women get the virus at some point in their lives. Luckily we now have vaccines that are so effective against types 16 &18 they are between 92 and 100% effective in preventing infection and thus preventing cervical cancer!
